Ginger Skincare
Ginger is a skincare brand based out of Minnesota with a DIY brand needing a complete brand identity created. They currently sell lotions, sunscreens, and ointments to nurture, soothe, and care for the skin of their beloved clients. Their target audience are feminine people who value a great skincare routine. The scents in their products are organic, earthy and with a hint of citrus, vanilla, or calming lavender. They wanted a brand that is playful, but feminine. They wanted something that communicated to their clients that they're down to earth, unique, and embrace everyones individuality.
Logos
Ginger had a generic, mass produced logo created by a software commonly used for quick logos. Their logo lacked personal meaning and a story. What I tried to do when creating this logo was to think of the people using the products. I thought of the natural curves of a body, which is where the smooth curves in the typography are implemented, and the soft, comforting lotion and ointments provided by Ginger. The crisp elements of the logo are to give the brand an elevated and feminine feel. The deep green and orange colors are intentional. Green is soothing, calm, and it represents renewal. Orange is playful, trusting, and positive. These words are some descriptive characteristics of Ginger's goal - to care for and nurture the skin of all who use these products, while being authentically YOU.
I adore this brand, and my clients at Ginger were ecstatic to know that their brand identity was personally crafted for them with care and thoughtfulness.
Mood Board
To begin, we needed a mood board.
My searches included words such as, citrus, calm, caring, feminine, and unique. The first color that came to mind was a bold yet soothing orange. I love that orange is such a playful yet elevated color in a mood board. Green was next. Green is so refreshing, rejuvenating, and slightly fancy. I love a fancy color!
After looking at some potential color palettes, I settled on these colors and put them together with the logo.
Product Design
Ginger wanted product design to compliment their new brand. Natural drawn portraits of different faces, hands, and eyes came to mind. These imperfect, yet feminine drawings compliment Ginger's mission to have a product that works for so many different people.
Print Media
Ginger needed fun items, like stickers, cups, mugs, folders, t-shirts, sweaters, and fun items that clients can display in their homes or offices to communicate their unique individuality. From wrapping paper to background images on your cellphone, you can always embrace who you are no matter where you are.
